Tor W. Jansen, 82, of Southampton, PA went to Heaven on March 7, 2013. He was born in Oslo, Norway, the son of the late Rev. Ludvig and Gerda (Gundersen) Jansen, and came to America in 1947. He was the loving husband of May Jansen, with whom he had shared 57 years of marriage.
Tor served four years in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1957. He received a degree in Aeronautical Engineering from San Jose State College and worked for the Naval Air Development Center in Warminster, PA for 28 years where he was awarded patents for his work.
Tor personified faith with action. He was a very active member of St. Andrews and Lehman Memorial United Methodist churches. His home was always open to anyone who needed help. Over his lifetime, he and his wife adopted 5 children after having 4 sons and sponsored several Vietnamese Families. He was involved with Caring Action for Children, a non-profit organization that helps underprivileged children in Mexico. Tor became their Executive Director in 1986. Tor is survived, in addition to his wife, by his 9 children, Ted (Sue), Tim, Kai (Anita), Mia (Bart), Rik, Kip, Tina, Heidi, and Bill (Samantha); his sisters Gerd, Bjorg (Jim), and Liv (Berger); and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was a wonderful husband, brother, father, grandfather, and greatgrandfather. He taught the values of love, faith, learning, and responsibility. He will be greatly missed.
